The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou informs the public that starting 7 November 2023 the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents (Apostille Convention) takes effect in China. As a result, China will no longer issue consular authentication to public documents from China to be used in the contracting states of the Convention such as the Philippines, but issue Apostille instead.

The foreign affairs offices of the people’s governments of the pertinent provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government of China and the foreign affairs offices of some municipal people’s governments may issue Apostille to public documents issued within their respective administrative regions.
